In Assam’s Udalguri, an elephant tramples elderly couple to death

On Tuesday night at midnight in the Mazbat neighbourhood of the Udalguri district, a wild elephant trampled to death an elderly couple while they were sleeping.

The couple’s hut was attacked by an elephant that arrived in search of food from the nearby hills, killing them. Someswar Gayari (72) and his wife Bui Gayari (67) have been identified as the victims.
