Incomplete Bridge in Bongaigaon Sparks Public Outrage

The incomplete 61-meter bridge over the Kujia River in Bongaigaon’s Jakuapara Part-II remains a symbol of neglect since construction began in 2019 under a ₹10 crore project.

Villagers, frustrated by delays and lack of action from officials and politicians, built a temporary bamboo bridge to cross the river. PWD has warned the contractor to finish the bridge by March or face cancellation of the contract. Locals criticized MP Phani Bhusan Choudhury and Minister Ranjeet Kumar Dass for failing to address the issue and plan to appeal to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
