Jorhat Forester Suspended Over Alleged Corruption

Jorhat: A Forester-II of the Jorhat Forest Division, Montu Hazarika, has been suspended with immediate effect over allegations of corruption and misconduct. The action was taken pending a departmental inquiry under the Assam Services (Disciplinary & Appeal) Rules, 1964.

The suspension followed a viral audio clip allegedly linking the official to illegal sand transportation and bribery. Assam Forest Minister Jayanta Mallabaruah reportedly directed immediate action, while the allegations are currently under investigation.
