Kamrup (Metro) Reviews Road Safety Measures, Urges Action on Drunk Driving and Vehicle Scrapping

A meeting of the Kamrup (Metro) District Road Safety Committee, chaired by ADC Ajit Kumar Sharma, reviewed departmental progress on road safety. Sharma stressed timely task completion and warned against negligence. He directed police and transport officials to conduct night checks to curb drunk driving. Officer Gautam Das discussed the state’s push for a pollution-free Assam under the ‘Assam Vehicle Scrapping Policy 2022’ and urged scrapping of vehicles over 15 years old. He highlighted a 75% tax rebate under the One-Time Settlement scheme for vehicle owners.
