Key United Kuki National Army (UKNA) Militant Arrested in Guwahati by Assam STF

In a major operation on September 13, 2024, Assam’s Special Task Force (STF) arrested LS Yosef Chongloi, a key figure in the UKNA militant group, from the Beltola area in Guwahati. Chongloi, a 34-year-old from Churachandpur, Manipur, is linked to several sabotage activities in Manipur and Assam’s border districts, including a bomb blast that destroyed the Sapermaina bridge and an armed attack on an IOCL convoy.

His arrest, under various sections of the IPC and UA(P) Act, is seen as a significant step in the ongoing crackdown against insurgency in the Northeast. Investigations are ongoing to uncover further details of his involvement in UKNA operations.
