Landslide in Guwahati’s Jorabat Claims Lives of Mother and Son

A severe landslide triggered by heavy rainfall in Guwahati’s Jorabat area claimed the lives of Rumi Das and her son, Champak Das, on Thursday night while they were sleeping. A 14-year-old girl, Rima Das, was also injured and is receiving medical treatment after being rescued by locals.

Jorabat police have begun an investigation after recovering the bodies. The house where the incident occurred is owned by Hemen Pathak, who resides in Tezpur due to his job and is expected to arrive today.

In response, the Dispur Circle Officer has directed the village headman to prepare a list of people living on the hills without permission.
