Leopard Attack Highlights Man-Animal Conflict in Assam’s Jorhat District

In a grim reminder of escalating man-animal conflicts in Assam, a laborer at Kathalguri Tea Estate in Jorhat district was severely injured in a leopard attack. Paresh Telenga and his brother were in the tea garden when the leopard struck, inflicting grievous injuries on Paresh. The brothers managed to escape, and Paresh was initially treated in Mariani before being transferred to Jorhat Medical College and Hospital due to his deteriorating condition. This incident underscores the lack of proper toilet facilities for tea garden workers, forcing them to defecate outdoors and increasing their risk of wildlife encounters.
