Leopard Trapped in Assam Village Amid Rising Man-Animal Conflict
In Dibrugarh’s Khowang area, villagers trapped a leopard using a homemade cage after repeated big-cat sightings. Villager Pankaj Baruah created the cage, citing a lack of forest department resources and concerns for community safety.
The leopard, caught Friday, was later released into Joypur Reserve Forest by the forest department. Villagers say shrinking forests are driving wildlife into human habitats, intensifying man-animal conflicts.
