Manipur Government Condemns Deadly Attack in Koutruk, Imposes Curfew

On September 1, 2024, Kuki militants allegedly attacked unarmed villagers in Koutruk, Imphal West, using drones, bombs, and sophisticated weapons, killing two people and injuring several others, including two police personnel. The Manipur Government condemned the attack as an attempt to disrupt peace efforts and issued a heightened alert across districts.

In response, the District Magistrate of Imphal West imposed a curfew, with a temporary relaxation on September 2 for essential activities. Public gatherings remain prohibited, and essential services are exempt from the restrictions.
