Manipur Limits Government Schemes to Recognized Villages

The Manipur cabinet, led by Chief Minister N Biren Singh, has decided to limit government benefits, such as MGNREGA and PM Surya Ghar, to officially recognized villages only. This decision, aimed at conserving forests and the environment, follows a review of village recognition data. Unregistered villages will no longer receive government scheme benefits, as clarified by government spokesperson Dr. Sapam Ranjan. He emphasized that merely naming a settlement does not make it eligible for aid.
