Married Woman Allegedly Beaten to Death by In-Laws in Assam

Anowara Begum, a resident of Anglabazar in Assam’s Sribhumi district, was allegedly beaten to death by her in-laws over accusations of infidelity. The in-laws claimed to have caught her with a man, Salim Uddin, and assaulted both.

Begum’s family denied the allegations, calling it a planned murder, and filed a case against four individuals at Badarpur police station. Police are investigating the incident.

In a separate case, Mousumi Gogoi, an NGO worker, was fatally stabbed in broad daylight in Guwahati earlier this week.
