Mastermind of Assam’s Fake Medical Degree Racket Arrested in Cachar

Cachar Police arrested Jayanta Prasad Das, the alleged mastermind behind a two-decade-old fake medical degree racket. Das ran the unrecognised National Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS), which issued forged medical certificates to unqualified individuals. This marks the 14th arrest in the crackdown on fake doctors. Police said Das’s network endangered public health by allowing untrained people to practise medicine illegally. Further arrests are expected.
