Minor Gang Rape Case Shakes Udalguri District, Assam

In a harrowing incident, five youths gang-raped a minor in Assam’s Udalguri district. The crime occurred at Dhunsuri T.E. under Mazbat PS on the evening of June 22. The victim, accompanied by her friend, was coerced by the gang and allegedly raped in a nearby secluded area.

Family members lodged a complaint, leading to the arrest of the five youths: Mustaq Ahmed, Mohidul Islam, Hafizul Ali, Saddam Ali, and Ehsan Ahmed. The incident sparked tension, with various organizations expressing outrage. A large crowd protested in front of the Mazbat Circle Office, demanding justice for the victim.

An agitated mob vandalized the accused’s house, setting it on fire. Firefighters rushed to the scene, and the police took action to control the situation.

Udalguri Superintendent of Police, IPS Pushkin Jain, assured a thorough investigation. The accused were arrested from different parts of Udalguri and neighboring Darrang district. Citizens are urged to assist in the investigation, and the victim receives legal, medical, and psychological support.
