Murder Accused Shot While Fleeing Custody in Jorhat Encounter

Jorhat police shot Abdul Nur, a murder accused in the Bedanga Bhushan Baruah case, in the leg as he allegedly tried to escape during an investigation at Cinnamara Tea Estate. Nur, one of ten arrested for assaulting Baruah at a Bihu event, is now hospitalized. The case has drug-related links, with rising narcotics cases in Jorhat. This marks Assam’s fifth police encounter this year.
