NFR Records Over 1 Million Tonnes Freight Loading in May

Maligaon: The Northeast Frontier Railway recorded freight loading of 1.033 million tonnes in May 2026, reflecting strong growth in the transportation of essential commodities.

Cement loading increased by 231.3%, dolomite by 31.1%, petroleum products by 12.5%, and bamboo loading by 142.9% compared to the same period last year. NFR said the growth highlights rising economic activity in the Northeast and reaffirmed its commitment to improving freight services and operational efficiency.
