NIA Recovers Live IED in Assam’s Lakhimpur, Links ULFA-I to Plot

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) recovered a live Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in Lakhimpur district, planted by the banned group ULFA-I. The Bomb Disposal Squad defused it safely. The discovery was linked to a previous IED recovery in North Lakhimpur on August 15. Investigations revealed ULFA-I’s plan to trigger multiple blasts on Independence Day 2024. Assam Police has gathered solid technical evidence and is preparing a comprehensive charge sheet.
