Northeast’s Largest Eri Silk Spinning Plant Inaugurated in Baksa

Baksa district now hosts the Northeast’s largest Eri silk spinning plant at Kharuajan’s Integrated Textile Park, Mushalpur. Built by the NEHHDC, the ₹14.92-crore facility spans 12,916 sq. ft., featuring 960 spindles and producing 450 kg daily.

BTC Chief Pramod Boro inaugurated the plant, emphasizing its potential to boost the rural economy and create sustainable livelihoods, especially for women. The project will provide direct employment to 375 individuals and indirectly support 50,000 households.

Officials highlighted the plant’s role in reducing job migration and fostering BTR’s economic growth through modern technology and local industry development.
