Open Drains and Waterlogging in Guwahati Pose Serious Risks
Waterlogging and the lack of proper markers for uncovered drains continue to pose significant risks for residents of Guwahati. Recently, an 8-year-old boy was tragically washed away in an open drain, and on Friday night at around 3:30 a.m., a vehicle fell into an open drain in the Parijat Path area of Hatigaon.
The driver, navigating through a heavily waterlogged road, did not realize the presence of the drain due to the absence of proper markers, leading to the incident. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.
