PM Modi Unveils 125-Feet Statue of Valour Honoring Ahom Dynasty’s Hero Lachit Barphukan in Assam

During his two-day visit to Assam, Prime Minister Narendra Modi revealed the 125-feet Statue of Valour in Jorhat district on Saturday. The bronze statue stands as a monumental tribute to the courageous General Lachit Barphukan of the Ahom Dynasty, renowned for his role in defending Assam against Mughal invaders. Prior to the unveiling, Prime Minister Modi, adorned in traditional attire and headgear, paid respects at the Lachit Maidam Memorial. Lachit Barphukan’s leadership in the historic ‘Battle of Saraighat’ remains a significant chapter in Assam’s history.
