PPFA Calls for Unity and Accurate NRC Implementation in Assam

The Patriotic People’s Front Assam (PPFA) has urged an end to divisive debates over the voting patterns of Bangladeshi-origin Muslims in the 2024 general elections, stressing the need to focus on ongoing issues. Highlighting benefits received under BJP-led governments, including infrastructure improvements, the PPFA emphasized the importance of implementing a correct National Register of Citizens (NRC) in Assam with a base year of 1951.

The forum raised concerns over delays in endorsing the Assam NRC by the Registrar General of India, citing alleged irregularities and corruption during the update process. Criticism was directed at former NRC State Coordinator Prateek Hajela and associates for financial mismanagement, as reported by the Comptroller and Auditor General of India.

The PPFA called for the central and state governments to identify and deport illegal migrants or redistribute them across the country, emphasizing the need to protect indigenous communities and national security.
