Protest Turns Violent in West Karbi Anglong, Police Firing Injures Three

Violence erupted during an ongoing protest in West Karbi Anglong on Monday after demonstrators allegedly set fire to the Dongkamokam residence of Tuliram Ronghang, Chief Executive Member of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council. Police opened fire to disperse the crowd, leaving at least three people injured.
The unrest followed police action against a hunger strike demanding eviction of non-tribals from grazing reserves in Kheroni. Protesters later blocked roads and demanded the release of detainees. The situation remained tense with heavy security deployment, while authorities are yet to issue an official statement.
