Protests Erupt in Assam-Agartala highway Over Arrests Linked to Communal Tensions

Protests broke out on the Assam-Agartala highway after Tripura Police arrested five individuals related to communal tensions in Ranirbazar. Protesters blocked the highway, demanding the release of those arrested, claiming they were innocent and accusing the police of bias. Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury negotiated the lifting of the blockade. The arrests followed a clash triggered by the desecration of a Kali idol, leading to a 48-hour curfew. The situation was eventually brought under control with the help of security forces.
