Protests Erupt in Kaliabor Over Four-Lane Highway Alignment

Intense protests erupted in Kaliabor on Wednesday as locals and organizations demanded the proposed four-lane highway follow its original route through Jakhalabandha from Kaliabor Tiniali.

Led by the ‘Four-Lane National Highway Demand Committee,’ thousands gheraoed the Kaliabor revenue circle office and submitted a memorandum. Protesters insisted the highway pass through Kuwaritol, Hatbor, and Jakhalabandha, rejecting the government’s reported change in alignment.

Groups like AASU, AJYCP, and ATTSA joined the agitation, warning of intensified protests if their demands remain unmet.
