Protests Erupt in Lakhimpur Over Minor’s Rape

A 60-year-old man, Mohammad Dulal Borbhuyan, was arrested on Friday for allegedly raping a six-year-old girl in Lakhimpur district. The accused, a resident of Bogoli under Laluk Police Station, was taken into custody with the help of local residents and is currently being questioned at the Lakhimpur Sadar Police Station.

Protesters from various organizations, including the All Assam Students’ Union and Asomiya Yuva Mancha, took to the streets in North Lakhimpur, Laluk, Harmoti, and Bihpuria, demanding a fast-track trial and capital punishment for the perpetrator.
