Rs 188 Cr Maritime Training Centre to Be Set Up in Dibrugarh
The Union Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways plans to establish a ₹188 crore Regional Centre of Excellence (RCoE) for maritime training in Dibrugarh. Announced by Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, the project aims to boost skill development and employment in the Northeast under the Maritime Amrit Kaal 2047 vision. The RCoE will offer certified training in navigation, marine engineering, logistics, and inland waterways, and is expected to be completed in 19 months. It will complement the existing Maritime Skill Centre in Guwahati and support economic growth via Brahmaputra-linked trade corridors.
