Sarbananda Sonowal Wins Dibrugarh Lok Sabha Seat by Over 2.76 Lakh Votes

Senior BJP leader and Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal secured a decisive victory in the Dibrugarh Lok Sabha seat, defeating Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) candidate Lurinjyoti Gogoi by over 2.76 lakh votes. Sonowal garnered 6,87,333 votes, while Gogoi received 4,11,147 votes. AAP candidate Manoj Dhanowar obtained 1,36,928 votes, with 32,018 opting for NOTA.

This victory marks Sonowal’s second win from Dibrugarh after 20 years, his first being in 2004 as an AGP candidate. His political journey includes serving as Assam’s Chief Minister (2016-21) and now as a Union Minister in the Narendra Modi cabinet. Sonowal attributed his win to the people’s faith in BJP policies and PM Modi’s leadership, vowing to work for the progress and prosperity of Dibrugarh.

Supporters celebrated the victory by flooding the streets of Dibrugarh with slogans and party flags.
