Sarma Accuses Mamata of Favoring Only Bengali-Speaking Muslims

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has accused West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee of caring only for Bengali-speaking Muslims, not all Bengalis. His remarks follow Banerjee’s criticism of the BJP for using linguistic identity for political gain. Sarma questioned why Banerjee hasn’t implemented the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) in her state if she truly supports Bengali-speaking people. He emphasized that Bengali Hindus are fully integrated and protected in Assam, enjoying cultural and linguistic rights. Meanwhile, Banerjee has alleged that BJP-ruled states are branding Bengali-speaking migrants as illegal Bangladeshis or Rohingyas.
