Sarma’s Remarks on Bengal Trigger Political Row, TMC Moves EC

Himanta Biswa Sarma accused Mamata Banerjee of diverting state resources to “Bangladeshi infiltrators” and called for her removal from power while addressing a rally in Kalimpong. He claimed infiltration continues in West Bengal and promised strict action, including expelling illegal immigrants and resolving the Gorkhaland issue if BJP forms the government.

In response, the All India Trinamool Congress lodged a complaint with the Election Commission of India, accusing Sarma of making divisive and inflammatory remarks. The party alleged his statements could incite communal tension and disrupt peaceful elections, and sought strict action against him.
