Security Lapses Alleged in Sivasagar EVM Strongroom

Leader of Opposition Debabrata Saikia alleged major security lapses in the strongroom storing election materials for Demow, Sivasagar, and Nazira constituencies.

In a letter to the observer, he claimed rooms were secured with a single lock, violating Election Commission of India norms that require double locks and restricted access. He also pointed to lack of proper security deployment and absence of CCTV surveillance.

Saikia said these lapses could compromise the integrity of the electoral process and urged immediate action to ensure proper security arrangements.
