Silchar Greenfield Airport Work to Begin This Year: CM Sarma

CM Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that construction of Silchar’s greenfield airport at Doloo will begin later this year. The project, aimed at boosting Barak Valley’s air connectivity, received clearance in February 2024. Sarma met Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu to discuss air infrastructure and the UDAN scheme. Efforts are underway to enhance connectivity in cities like Jorhat, Dibrugarh, Silchar, and expand Rupsi Airport. Heliports in Nagaon, Misa, and Geleki are also planned.
