Silchar Psychiatrist Faces Allegations of Sexual Harassment: Social Media Erupts with Outrage

In a disturbing turn of events, Dr. Himabrata Das, a psychiatrist at Silchar Medical College and Hospital, is under fire as numerous girls and women come forward on social media, accusing him of sending vulgar text messages. The controversy unfolded when a girl shared screenshots on social media depicting objectionable conversations between Dr. Das and herself. This revelation prompted a flood of similar stories from other victims, alleging inappropriate messages and even marriage proposals from the accused.

The issue gained momentum when a Bengaluru-based advocate and social worker reached out to Cachar SP Numal Mahatta, narrating the situation and filing a formal complaint via email with screenshots of the explicit messages. As of Monday, SP Numal Mahatta confirmed the receipt of the complaint and stated that an investigation is underway.

Legal professionals and advocates have joined the conversation, calling for appropriate action against Dr. Das under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Meanwhile, the accused psychiatrist has not yet responded to the allegations, leaving the public and authorities awaiting his side of the story.
