Sonitpur District Enforces Restrictions for Peaceful Lok Sabha Elections

District Magistrate and Returning Officer (RO) Deba Kumar Mishra of Sonitpur issued directives under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure to ensure the peaceful conduct of Lok Sabha elections. Effective immediately until the conclusion of polling, the restrictions include prohibiting gatherings of five or more individuals, public meetings, and presence of political activists from other constituencies. Actions aiming to influence voters through inflammatory means are barred, along with election-related displays and loudspeaker usage near polling stations. Violators will face punishment under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code. These measures aim to maintain law and order during the electoral process, with exemptions for essential services and government officials involved in election duties.
