Specially-Abled in Assam Struggle as Orunodoi Scheme Payments Remain Irregular

Thousands of specially-abled individuals in Assam have faced severe financial difficulties due to irregular payments under the Orunodoi scheme. Disability rights activist Nripen Malakar revealed that while 1.6 lakh people used to receive Rs 1,000 in monthly pensions, only about 10,000 now get assistance under Orunodoi. Activists have approached state officials but received no solutions. The Pratibandhi Suraksha Sanstha has urged the government to provide Rs 3,000 monthly, warning of protests if no action is taken within 15 days.
