TAI-BVB Signs MoU with Assam University to Boost Tea Industry

The Tea Association of India – Barak Valley Branch (TAI-BVB) signed an MoU with Assam University during its 50th AGM in Silchar to promote sustainable growth in the tea sector.

Experts raised concerns over declining tea production in Barak Valley due to ageing bushes, high vacancy rates, and financial constraints. In contrast, Brahmaputra Valley tea gardens have seen growth.

Minister Kaushik Rai assured government support, highlighting financial aid of Rs 178 crore in three phases to improve the industry’s infrastructure and productivity.
