Three Arrested in Guwahati Fake Currency Racket, Counterfeit Notes Worth ₹3.82 Lakh Seized

Guwahati, August 7: Police arrested three alleged members of a fake currency racket near the Kumar Bhaskar Varma Setu in North Guwahati and seized counterfeit currency notes with a face value of ₹3.82 lakh. The accused were identified as Chinmoy Kalita of Rangia, Rashid Ali of Kalaigaon, and Mohammad Sahil Ali of Chhaygaon.
The trio was travelling in an Eon car allegedly bearing a fake registration plate when they were intercepted. Police recovered fake ₹100 and ₹500 notes worth ₹3,82,600 from the vehicle and also detained another suspect from Jalukbari for questioning in connection with the racket. Further investigation is underway.
