Tragic Deaths at Relief Camps in Churachandpur

A 9-year-old girl was found dead in Lanva TD Block Relief Camp, Churachandpur, Manipur, on Friday morning, with signs of strangulation and possible sexual assault. She went missing Thursday evening, and her body was discovered at midnight with a rope around her throat and bloodstains. Police suspect rape and murder; her body is under post-mortem examination. Separately, in January, a 21-year-old woman, Sukham Ongbi Chanu, died by suicide at Mekola Higher Secondary School relief camp in Imphal West, found hanging by a fellow inmate. Investigations are ongoing for both cases.
