Two Assam Men Arrested in AI Deepfake Cyber Fraud Case

The Ahmedabad Cyber Crime Branch arrested two men from Assam’s Morigaon district for their alleged involvement in an interstate cyber fraud racket that used AI-generated deepfake videos to bypass Aadhaar verification systems.

The accused, identified as Kazimuddin and Rabbul Hussain, were allegedly part of a gang that used stolen Aadhaar and mobile data to take fraudulent loans and access bank accounts. Another accused from Assam, Oli Ullah, is currently absconding.

Police said the racket created AI-generated “eye-blinking” videos from Aadhaar photos to manipulate biometric authentication systems. The fraud came to light after an Ahmedabad businessman discovered loans had been taken in his name after his Aadhaar-linked mobile number was changed illegally.

A case has been registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the IT Act, while further investigation is underway.
