Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal Highlights Success in Waterways Development, Inaugurates Key Projects in the Northeast

Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal announced that 90% of waterway development projects initiated in the last decade have been successfully completed. Speaking at an event marking the inauguration and foundation stone laying of projects by the Inland Waterways Authority of India, worth over Rs 284 crore, Sonowal urged youth to capitalize on improved waterways for affordable transportation of goods and career opportunities in the maritime sector. The minister inaugurated terminals and announced initiatives to enhance waterway connectivity in the region. Emphasizing the government’s commitment to the Northeast, Sonowal highlighted significant investments and the positive impact of the ‘Act East Policy’ on the region’s development.
