Unraveling Corruption: Assam’s APSC Scandal Investigated
A significant development in the investigation of corruption within the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) unfolds as the Special Investigation Team (SIT) summons 30 examination inspectors to provide testimonies regarding the notorious recruitment scam. The scandal, dating back to 2013, prompted the formation of the SIT following a detailed report by retired Justice BK Sarma, revealing irregularities during the Combined Competitive Examination (CCE). The summoned inspectors, including Bipul Gogoi, Abhijit Bora, Bhupendra Talukdar, Anjan Sharma, and Jyotiraj Pathak, have already presented their statements to the Crime Investigation Department (CID) and are expected to aid in examining disputed answer sheets of the 2013 CCE batch exams. Government actions, including departmental suspensions and scrutiny of officials, are a response to recommendations from Justice (Retd) Biplab Kumar Sarma’s commission report. With a commitment to transparency and accountability, the ongoing investigation aims to restore public confidence in the integrity of commission operations.
