UPPL Releases Manifesto, Targets Key Gains in BTC Region

The United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) released its manifesto for the April 9 Assembly elections, highlighting its governance record in the Bodoland Territorial Council and outlining new promises for the region.

At the launch in Kokrajhar, UPPL chief Pramod Boro said the party expects to win 10–12 of the 15 seats in the BTC area, positioning itself as a key player in government formation. He added that future support to any government would depend on commitments to development, rights protection, and upliftment of backward communities.

Senior leader UG Brahma noted a shift in voter preference, with some former Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) supporters moving towards UPPL.

During campaign rallies, Boro criticized BPF candidate Sewli Mohilary, questioning her suitability for public service, and backed UPPL candidate Lawrence Islary, citing his grassroots experience.

UPPL leaders asserted strong support in the region and expressed confidence in winning key constituencies, including Tamulpur, as voters seek credible leadership.
