Villagers Tie and Beat Thieves Caught Stealing Bicycle in Chirang District

Two thieves, Atam Das and Jayanta Mahanayak, were tied to a betel nut tree and beaten by locals in Bijni, Assam’s Chirang district, on Monday morning after attempting to steal a bicycle. The incident occurred in the Chatianguri area, where villagers caught the duo red-handed. The thieves had been creating a nuisance in the village by stealing water motors, goats, money, and betel nuts. They confessed to selling the stolen items to buy drugs from a dealer named Rahul in Purana Bijni. Bijni police later arrived at the scene and took the thieves to the police station.
