Wild Elephants Damage Crops in Numaligarh; One Injured During Drive-Out Effort

Wild elephant herds have been entering paddy fields in Numaligarh’s Kuruwabahi area, causing damage as harvest season approaches. On Saturday, forest officials attempted to drive the elephants away using firecrackers. A misfired cracker injured a resident, Birbal Ghatowal, in Nepalikuti village during the operation. He was taken to Bokakhat Kamala Miri Civil Hospital and given first aid.
