Wild elephants in Sonitpur cause a disturbance, injuring two

  • Assam

A group of wild elephants that were on their way out of Orang National Park, which is located in the districts of Darrang and Sonitpur, caused a disturbance on Monday as they entered the forest. As a result, two people were seriously injured.

This is the first time the herd of jumbos has entered Rowta in the Sonitpur district. Over the previous two months, this herd of wild tuskers damaged multiple paddy fields in search of food.

Both victims were taken to Rowta Model Hospital after the incident, but Jayanta was sent to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) because of a critical injury.
