Youth Publicly Thrashed for Job Scam at Guwahati Oil Refinery
Deepjyoti Das was publicly beaten with slippers after being accused of defrauding several people by promising jobs at the Guwahati Oil Refinery. Das allegedly posed as a refinery officer, using a fake identity card to offer jobs, petrol pump licenses, and contracts, misappropriating large sums of money. He scammed victims not only from Assam but also other states.
One victim, Bikram Bora, lost Rs 3.5 crore, leading to Das’s arrest after Bora lodged a complaint at the Noonmati Police Station. Another victim, Jonali Kalita, was duped of Rs 10 lakh. Das continued his fraudulent activities even after a police-mediated agreement to return the money. The Noonmati police are currently interrogating him to uncover more details about his scams.
