Assam’s beloved singer Zubeen Garg expressed staunch opposition to the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in a social media declaration on Tuesday. Garg affirmed his commitment to challenging the act across various platforms and advocated for collective efforts to legally annul it. Emphasizing his consistent opposition since the bill’s inception in 2017, Garg stressed the need for diverse methods of protest while emphasizing the importance of preventing further casualties during demonstrations. Asserting his resolve to protest against the CAA through any available means, Garg, a prominent youth figure in the state, highlighted the unity of Assamese people against the government’s attempts to enforce the act, dismissing any potential Hindu-Muslim divisions and reaffirming Assam’s identity as solely for its own people.
