2 Arunachal boys missing for 56 days near China border

Two boys from Arunachal Pradesh’s Anjaw district, missing for the past 56 days since they headed towards deep mountainous jungles along the Chinese border to collect wild medicinal herbs, are suspected to have crossed the LAC.

Anjaw SP Rike Kamsi said he has alerted the Army, SIB and other agencies. “The families reported about them on October 9. The two were trekking to the border area to collect medicinal herbs. We suspect they might have unknowingly crossed the LAC.”

The youths identified as Bateilum Tikro and Bayingso Manyu.

Bateilum Tikro and Bayingso Manyu had gone to the Chaglagam area, which is close to the international border on August 19.

The SP said the families were searching for them for over a month. “From their village, it would take at least six to eight days on foot to reach the border, depending on the weather and pace,” the officer said.
