46 Bird Species Recorded at Khambrenga Beel During World Wetlands Day Event

Aaranyak, with support from various organizations, hosted a bird-watching event at Khambrenga Beel, Kamrup (Metro), on February 1, marking World Wetlands Day. Experts and students recorded 46 bird species, highlighting the wetland’s ecological significance. The event, part of the WeForNature program, aimed to raise awareness about wetland conservation. Discussions led by scientists, forest officials, and community leaders emphasized biodiversity, ecotourism, and environmental challenges. Zeiss India supported the initiative by facilitating birdwatching activities.
