5 arrested for raping 22-year-old girl in Assam’s Sonitpur

A 22-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped by five men in northern Assam’s Sonitpur district and the act recorded on a smart phone, police said on Saturday.

An investigating officer said the incident took place on May 2 but it was reported to police three days later on Friday.

All five accused were arrested on Friday night, based on a police complaint filed by the victim, police said. A local court in Gohpur sent them to three-day police remand on Saturday.
