53 Acres of Illegal Poppy Destroyed in Manipur’s Kangpokpi Reserve Forest

Security forces and the Kangpokpi Forest Division destroyed 53 acres of illegal poppy cultivation in the Phailengkot–Makhan hill ranges on November 19. Seven temporary huts and 35 packets of salt used for the plantations were also destroyed. The operation aims to curb rising narcotics farming and encroachment inside the protected Kangpokpi Reserve Forest. Authorities said more joint actions and strict surveillance will continue to prevent further illegal activity.
