108 Ambulance Staff Begin Indefinite Strike in Assam

Emergency medical services in Assam were disrupted on Monday as employees of the 108 Mrityunjoy ambulance service began an indefinite strike demanding job regularisation, better wages and pending overtime payments.
Protesting workers gathered in Chachal, Guwahati, saying repeated talks with the government brought no results. The association claimed staff work 12-hour shifts but are paid for only 10 hours and continue to face job insecurity despite serving as frontline responders.
Their key demands include government takeover of the service, regularisation of nearly 3,000 employees, fair pay, overtime benefits, bonuses and access to welfare schemes.
The association stated services will remain suspended until the government holds discussions.
